Spring is here: Embracing New Beginnings

This morning, my littlest burst back through the door, breathless with excitement. "Mom! Come quick! You have to see the sunrise!" They all know how much I love the way the sun paints a watercolor sky in the morning—those ephemeral strokes of pink and gold that transform the ordinary into something magnificent. I watched nature's masterpiece unfold behind their silhouettes. The moment struck me as a powerful reminder of the beautiful possibilities each day can hold.

Spring offers a promise guaranteed despite the harshest winters. We too can rely on new growth after life's most challenging transitions.

It's fitting that this happened today, as I sit down to write about spring's arrival. Just as the sunrise transforms the sky, this new season brings its own transformation—a fresh palette of colors, scents, and sounds that remind us of life's constant renewal.

Seasons of Change

Spring cleaning isn't just for our homes—it's for our lives. As you navigate the shifting landscape of divorce, consider what no longer serves you. What patterns keep you rooted in winter when you're ready for spring? Which relationships nourish your growth, and which may need pruning? What dreams have been dormant that are ready to bloom? Here are five strategies to revitalize your season of renewal:

1: Physical Spaces

Begin your decluttering journey with areas you see daily. Clear countertops, organized entryways, and tidy living spaces create immediate mental relief. Small victories build momentum for bigger projects.

2: Address emotionally-charged possessions

Set aside a specific time to sort through shared items and memories. Invite a supportive friend to help with difficult decisions. Remember: keeping everything keeps you anchored to the past.

3. Create systems that reflect your new life

Your organization needs have changed. Design storage and systems that support your current lifestyle, not your past one. This is your opportunity to arrange your home exactly as YOU want it.

4. Don't forget digital spaces

Clean up your digital world: unfollow accounts that no longer serve you, organize photos, update passwords, and create new playlists. Your digital environment affects your mental state just as much as your physical one.

5. Establish new traditions and focus on growth

As you clear physical space, introduce small rituals that represent renewal: fresh flowers weekly, morning meditation in a newly arranged space, or a candle that signifies your new beginning. Nurture something that symbolizes your fresh start: a new plant, garden project, or even rearranging furniture to create space for a new hobby or practice.

Remember: Renewal isn't about erasing the past—it's about creating space for what comes next.

Here’s to new beginnings,
